Thermochemical processes

Thermochemical processes or diffusion processes are used to protect the surface finish of the material, mostly against wear and tear. Carburising, nitrocarburizing and nitrate processes are known examples of this.

The processes are done in a gas atmosphere, vacuum or plasma, at temperatures of 350°C to approximately 950°C.

Nitrotec® ,
Nitrotec® is a thermochemical process in which it is possible to provide non or low alloy materials with a hard, wear-resistant and corrosion resistant layer.

The corrosion resistance is comparable to that of Stainless Steel. A wonderful process resulting in the tribiological properties improving as well. In many cases, even a material saving can be realized and a wet chemical after treatment is not necessary.

Nitrotec® has large sales within the automotive industry because of these unique characteristics.
